On April 25, 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal and killed more than 8,000 people, injured more than 21,000, and flattened villages, leaving hundreds of thousands of Nepalese people homeless.

The earthquake destroyed UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, and triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing 21, making it the deadliest day on the mountain in history.

Dartmouth College is hosting a summit Feb. 18-20, to bring together member of the Nepalese government and representatives from a variety of disciplines, including technology, medical relief, anthropology and the visual arts.

Representatives from Dartmouth's John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding said the summit's major speeches and panel discussions will be streamed online.
