The replacement of steel decks on the upper level span of the George Washington Bridge will cause delays for commuters.

The Port Authority says the replacement of steel decks on the upper level span of the George Washington Bridge will cause delays for commuters.

Beginning Monday, August 5, the repairs will take place in the evening and during the overnight hours and will alternate between the west and eastbound lanes.

Additional repairs include the resurfacing of the westbound upper level roadway, upgrade and rehabilitation of roadway drainage system, and rehabilitation of the finger joints.

All lanes on the lower level will be open to traffic.

The PA says it will try to keep delays to no more than an hour. The repairs are scheduled to last through the end of the year.
